Description: Reel 1: “Tempest Hydraulics – The Live Line System” - The Dowty live line system on a MkV Tempest explained by use of system 'flow' animation and footage of aircraft being serviced. Cutaway of pump in action. MkII Tempest also used to demonstrate location of components in aircraft.
Reel 2: Undercarriage system explained using animation of hydraulic system. “Operation And Checking Of Hydraulic Controls” - Film of EJ785 and pilot carrying out hydraulic system checks prior to take off (operate flaps etc) (EJ816 and EJ829 in background) NV7** in flight and pilot selects undercarriage down prior to landing.
Reel 3: “Filling and Bleeding The System” - EJ757 being placed on trestles/jacks prior to servicing hyd system. “Priming The Engine Driven Pump” - as title. “Changing The Filter” - as title.
Reel 4: “Structure Of Main Undercarriage and Checking of Air Pressure” - as title. “Removal of Main Shock Absorber” - as title.
Reel 5: “Structure of the Tail Wheel Strut” - as title. “Removal and Replacement of the Tail Shock Absorber” - as title. “Fair Wear and Tear” - EJ643 taking off. Fault with undercarriage doors forces return to base. EJ785 shown parked up. Maintenance crew work on aircraft. Rigger identifies fault.
Reel 6: “Fair Wear and Tear” continued – diagnosing faulty valve and repairing.
