Flash No.3 – Importance of ensuring that aircraft are properly secured and tied down when impending gale warning is issued. Flash No.4 – working high pressure charger unit essential when recharging aircraft – relying on aircraft pressure gauge can result in accident. Flash No.5 – Mosquito RL124 D•RO (29 Sqdn?) lands with low air pressure in braking system. Rather than park aircraft pilot decides to taxi to hardstand almost colliding with another aircraft. Reel 6-9: Flash No.6 - Two chaps who had no time to bother. Pilot fails to ensure sufficient fuel and navigator fails to get Met Forecast resulting in the loss of them and aircraft. Flash No.7 - 54 Sqdn Vampire ZY-N being prepped for flight. Pitot cover gets sucked into engine on start and damages compressor blades. Flash No.8- Communicating with other aircraft about changes in weather conditions can prevent fatal accidents. Flash No.9 - Tempest J5•M SN212 (3 Sqdn) being prepared for ferry flight – ground crew fail to top up fuel tanks and tell pilot it has plenty of fuel for flight and to ignore the gauges. Air to air shot of SN212 and pilot realising he has no fuel resulting in aircraft “crashing”. Reel 10-14: Flash No.10 - Tempest J5•M SN212 (3 Sqdn) taxis past ground crew who spot it has a flat tyre and alerts Flight Office preventing possible accident. Flash No.11 - PR Spitfire arrives and pilot in hurry tells Sgt not to bother checking aircraft as it's only flown for 20minutes. Ground crew carry out check regardless and find engine has no oil.... Flash No.12 - Meteor Jet Fighter visiting a non-jet station for refuelling – risks of not moving aircraft if fuel leaks and engine fails to start. Exploding Meteor. Flash No.13 - Vampire HF-H VF304 (54 Sqdn) ground running and importance of non-jet station groundcrew and personnel to be aware of the risks of jet aircraft. Flash No.14 - Importance of ensuring ground equipment is turned off before connecting to aircraft. Reel 15-18: Flash No.15 - Brake servicing section and airman complains about lack of replacement brake drums. Meteor EE488 taxis in and fault with brakes is discovered as pilot leaves aircraft. Airman in brake section complains about pilots misusing brakes. Flash No.16 - Court of Inquiry in progress. Vehicle crashes into Meteor HE•B (263 Sqdn?) due to fuel can being left on apron and being blown into path of vehicle causing vehicle to swerve and hit aircraft. Flash No.17 - Lincoln VN•C taking off; airspeed indicator not working due to pitot cover left on. aircraft returns to base and overshoots “into bushes” (RF394) and crew evacuate. Flash No.18 - Dakota KJ877 (YS•L 77 Sqn) – ensure all control surface locks are removed prior to flight. Tying locks together would prevent one being left in situ. Also pilots' responsibility to ensure all controls are free.
