Summary:
Description: An 8th Armoured Brigade Humber scout car heads through the wrecked cross-roads village of La Senaudiere shortly after its capture by the 1st Dorsetshire and 1st Royal Hampshire Regiments. Its stone-walled cottages have been gutted and set fire during 231st Brigade's attempts to overwhelm its German defenders. Two wrecked Panzer tanks from 130th 'Panzerlehr' Division lie among the ruins of La Senaudiere. From an OP established in the abbey at Abbaye de Mondaye, the cameraman scans a nearby farm and the fields, orchards, copses and hedgerows of this part of the Eure Valley; intrusive reminders of war in the form of a troop of Sexton SPGs, an artillery bombardment falling on German positions beyond the line La Belle-Epine Lingevres - Tilly-sur-Seulles and black smoke rising from a target hit and set on fire by British guns jar the tranquillity of this pastoral setting. Infantrymen serving with the 5th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment pass French refugees fleeing the fighting as they move up towards Longraye.
