Description: Opening shot of Vicker Valiant bomber. “This is the tale of a missing screw, believe me chaps it's gospel true, The trouble starts with Clueless Fred, who hadn't long been out of bed” A story, in verse, about a dropped screw inside an aircraft cockpit. Aircraft signed off as serviceable after a different screw was found still leaving a screw loose. A new crew takes the aircraft up (Valiant XD870, 214 Squadron). During the flight the control column jams temporarily and eventually the new pilot regains control. Back at base the Flight Sergant is informed of the problem and further investigation by an airframe fitter reveals the original missing screw. Moral of the story: if you drop something make sure you find it.
