Summary: An edition of the British official newsreel "World Pictorial News", produced by the Ministry of Information, Middle East.
Description: I. 'NEWS FROM ENGLAND.' Women factory workers sit at workstations on an assembly line making Ballito women's stockings. Male workers are shown in the background reconverting the factory back to its peace-time role following war service. A woman factory operative uses a cotton spinning machine, others pack stockings into boxes marked with the "Ballito" trademark. Young women try on stockings in a changing room. Elsewhere, interior footage shows male factory workers constructing Morris 10 family saloon cars on an assembly line at an undisclosed Morris factory location (Cowley ?). Male factory workers work on radiators, grills, engines and transmissions. A female factory worker uses a rotary polisher to finish the paintwork on completed cars.
II. 'KING IBN SAUD VISITS EGYPT.' King Ibn Saud of Arabia is driven under armed escort to the Fuad I University at Giza where he meets his host, King Farouk of Egypt. The royal pair sit on a podium, where they review an athletics display given by students at the university. King Ibn Saud and King Farouk drive by Rolls-Royce to Abbassia, cheered en-route by roadside civilian crowds, where they enjoy traditional displays of Egyptian stick fighting and Arabian horsemanship. El Sayed el Senoussi of Cyrenaica is briefly shown watching a display of traditional Sudanese dancing. King Ibn Saud is shown on King Farouk's royal yacht during a cruise on the Nile to see the river barrage at Aswan. The royal party later attend a military review at Almaza. Brief footage shows Lord Killearn watching the proceedings from the viewing stands. An Egyptian Army mounted band leads the march-past which includes a Camel Corps and infantry contingent.
