HA.MS from island to elevator bringing up Firefly Mk 5; ratings man a line attached to tail wheel of aircraft nose down on deck; MCU as aircrew rating adjusts pilot's harness; pilot briefing for 'Operation Buck'; various shots of Flight Deck Control Officer and the flight deck party about their duties and waiting in the safety area; MCU of Captain W R C Leggatt and navigator on the bridge, and helmsman (Petty Officer) in wheelhouse as he puts the wheel hard a starboard. II. MS as Seafire XV banks to fly low over a wood (sequence repeated), and LS - CU as aircraft goes over low, undercarriage retracting in flight.

- Notes: Summary: HMS Ocean arrived at Malta in June 1948, where with HMS Vengeance she formed the 2nd Aircraft Carrier Squadron - HMS Ocean embarked the 14th Carrier Air Group, comprising 804 Squadron (13 Seafire Mk 47s) and 812 Squadron (12 Firefly Mk 5s and 4 Firefly NF1s). Operation Buck, conducted in November 1948, appears to have been a joint Anglo-American exercise with USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and supporting units.
