Summary: Fleet Air Arm Buccaneers, operating out of RNAS Brawdy, bomb the tanker Torrey Canyon to release and burn off its residual cargo of oil.
Description: Aerial LSs of the huge pall of smoke from the burning of Torrey Canyon's oil cargo. A Buccaneer flies left to right, banking into a turn with air brakes extended. LS over Brawdy airfield as Buccaneer 104 of 800 Squadron HMS Eagle taxies to a halt. Pilot and observer deplane. A bowser is brought up to refuel the aircraft. CU of one of the starboard underwing pylons with two rails for rockets. The warheads for 1,000-pound bombs are racked up on the field ready for fusing. Further aerial sequence showing the smoke pall over the tanker and the oil slick burning on the water. The anti-submarine frigate HMS Carysfort (D.25) is in the vicinity. Revert to Brawdy and Buccaneer 104 landing. A second aircraft 634 (serial XN 954 based at Lossiemouth) is being refuelled and fussed over by ground crew. General shots of the two aircraft being refuelled and checked. CU of the 800 Squadron badge on 104. The 1,000-pound warheads are armed. A third aircraft 636 taxies past.
