Summary: Unedited, mute film of the launching of HMS Implacable at Fairfield (Govan) shipyard in December, 1942.
Description: MCU of King George VI and Queen arriving. Cut to bows-on shot of HMS Implacable going down the slipway. Film then shows the royal visit to Implacable, while at HM Dockyard, Rosyth, early in 1945. Various MCUs of King and Queen. Investiture held on flight deck. King and Queen leave the ship - at the foot of the gangway the Queen is presented with a bouquet. MCU of royal couple - aircraft carrier boat deck in the background. MS of crew lining the side to cheer. Departure - King talks to senior naval officers before boarding a train at Waverley station. The film then reverts to events of the visit - the King and Queen talk to workers, HM takes the salute on board Implacable, inspects marines and the ship's company at divisions.
