- Film Number: ADM 4513
- Other titles: POST-WAR NAVAL OPERATIONS - MISCELLANEOUS [Allocated Series Title]
- Summary: Landing craft and Westland Wessex helicopters from HMS Intrepid lands troops and equipment ashore.
- Description: LA as a Wessex HU.5 troop carrier flies in and a party of civilians - reporters ? - hurries to board. LS from HMS Intrepid at sea as a RAF Whirlwind HAR.10 approaches and is directed down onto the flightdeck, where 848 Squadron's Wessex HU.5s are parked up - the RN helicopters bear the fin code A, indicating that they are a detached flight from HMS Albion. The RAF Whirlwind takes off again. Unidentified Lieutenant-Commander regards the progress of the operation through his binoculars. More Whirlwinds shuttle out to Intrepid. Bridge scene - an officer takes a bearing. Marines file onboard one of Intrepid's LCVPs. A Wessex (recognition letters VO) runs up on the flightdeck, soldiers board, and it lifts off, bearing away towards the coast in the background. Wessex VG lifts off. One of Intrepid's LCMs (T-3) makes stern way to clear itself from alongside the ship. LCM 706 (T-1) makes off carrying spools of Class 30 Trackway, a transport tractor and a Land Rover. Another LCM, carrying a Centurion BARV, floats out from Intrepid's dock. Crowded with Land Rovers, LCM T-3 re-enters the dock. Two Wessex return to the ship. The ship's stern gate is raised. Wessex VG picks up a Wombat recoilless rifle and flies off. The cameraman then embarks in a Wessex to be flown ashore - aerial shots of Intrepid as the helicopter departs, and one of the assault ship's LCMs approaching a small jetty. LS across steep sloping coastline as helicopters VO and VS fly in with troops - both aircraft come in to land their men at a point above the camera-position, but fly down the sloping ground to the sea, passing below the camera. A sergeant directs his men. CU of dug-in troops - they wear the dragon shoulder flash of HQ Land Forces Hong Kong. Wessex VO approaches for another drop. An officer uses a W/T set. A beachmaster directs in one of Intrepid's LCVPs T-7. The tractor is reversed into the sea - possibly to test a laid trackway. The Centurion BARV is parked up behind the beach with a communications Land Rover hidden under camouflage netting. Final sequence is back in Hong Kong where the Lieutenant-Commander, the Royal Marine CO, a helicopter pilot and other participants in the exercise talk before the camera.
