Description: I. Celebration at Saint Nazaire to commemorate the raid in 1942 in which HMS Campbeltown rammed the caisson defending the dock. Survivors of the raid assemble for the ceremonies, and the current HMS Campbeltown, a Type 22 frigate. Interviews with HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh and Captain Jonathan Cooke (Naval Attaché to France).
II. Visit to the French Naval Base at Lorient, and profile of the Floréal Class frigates, focusing on the frégate de surveillance (light monitoring frigate) FS Nivôse (F732): interview with Capitaine de Frégate Thierry Oneill. FS Floréal (F730) also seen. Construction of new La Fayette class of frigates - Lieutenant de Vaisseau Bernard Monluc is interviewed about the new design.
III. News and Sport. (i) Rollout of Trident missile submarine HMS Vanguard. (ii) HMS Ark Royal, HMS Gloucester and RFA Olmeda on goodwill tour, demonstrating the capabilities of the Royal Navy. (iii) Kit exchange at HMS Nelson: worn uniforms are replaced free of charge at the Navy's discretion. (iv) Inter Services Rugby: Army v Navy (Army wins 16-9), Navy v RAF (Navy wins 22-30).
IV. Introduction of the new Warfare Branch (merger of "greenies" and seamen due to the introduction of Type 23 frigates). Operations room scenes accompany discussion of the new Operator Mechanic rank. Changes to the Branch structure are discussed.
V. On patrol with HMS Lindisfarne of the Fisheries Protection Squadron. Interview with Lieutenant Mark Greenaway about the area patrolled; also interview with Lieutenant-Commander Mel Robinson about the role of the Squadron. Interception of a danish fishing boat in the Dogger Bank trawling for sand eels. Interviews with crewmen and also with a local North East fisherman, who expresses his approval for the Squadron.
