- Description: I. CUs of war correspondent (eating sandwiches), and an anonymous colonel, GS, wearing Commando flashes - they are standing by the guard rail of 3 Division LCI(S). Four LCT(R)s are moored nearby. LS-MS off the starboard beam of a LCT(R) - a second craft in the background has just fired, and is shrouded in smoke. Both craft fire salvoes. LS to shell splashes from coastal batteries - smoke shrouded coastline in background. II. MS of destroyed gun position on Sword Beach - the barrel of a 75mm Pak 97/38 in the foreground, a drowned Sherman DD in the shallows, an amphibious bulldozer at screen right. MS of two drowned Sherman DDs before gun position. MS up the beach to ruined coastal villas - salvage pile of damaged bicycles and metal tracking in the foreground. Men walk up chespaling track laid over the beach - LCTs 2292 and 1023 in the background - camera pans to an abandoned casement. MS of a Pak 40 and its British captors - Morris Bofors SPG in the background. MSs of gun casement - White Ensign flies from a pole nearby, while beach group troops stand in the foreground. MS from camera vessel lying close inshore - columns of smoke rise inland - LCT 2055 and a LBV in the foreground. Laden DUKW moves along the shoreline past 2055. LSs of the coast and the smoke pall from burning dump. MLS of HMS Locust - blockships and small craft in the background. LS of landing craft hit by coastal batteries - a plume of white smoke rises - LST and Rhino in the foreground. HA.MS-MCU as DUKW of 101 GT Company RASC comes alongside camera vessel, and Admiral Talbot comes onboard. CU of flags flying from mast. LS over stern of the camera vessel, now underway, to an accompanying corvette (?). Crewman operates signal searchlight. LS of merchantman and LST lying offshore - behind them rises smoke from a burning vessel. LS of flak-speckled sky. IV. MS off the starboard quarter of blockship HNMS Sumatra - starboard beam tug maintains the cruiser's position as she settles. MS off the starboard bow of Sumatra, which is flying both Dutch and White Ensigns - crew line the side. LA.MCU of bridge and tubular mast with deflection clock.
