  • Description: I. CUs of war correspondent (eating sandwiches), and an anonymous colonel, GS, wearing Commando flashes - they are standing by the guard rail of 3 Division LCI(S). Four LCT(R)s are moored nearby. LS-MS off the starboard beam of a LCT(R) - a second craft in the background has just fired, and is shrouded in smoke. Both craft fire salvoes. LS to shell splashes from coastal batteries - smoke shrouded coastline in background. II. MS of destroyed gun position on Sword Beach - the barrel of a 75mm Pak 97/38 in the foreground, a drowned Sherman DD in the shallows, an amphibious bulldozer at screen right. MS of two drowned Sherman DDs before gun position. MS up the beach to ruined coastal villas - salvage pile of damaged bicycles and metal tracking in the foreground. Men walk up chespaling track laid over the beach - LCTs 2292 and 1023 in the background - camera pans to an abandoned casement.
