HMS Jamaica in San Remo; naming of a new carnation after the ship. 4th Destroyer Flotilla and Darings (Diana, Decoy and Diamond followed by Agincourt, Aisne, Comet and Corunna in line astern of Jamaica) at sea with Vesuvius in background. Jamaica arrives in San Remo. Views of San Remo with quarterdeck and Ensign prominent. Lower boom with boat crews securing boats and climbing ladder to boom. The Annual Flower Show, San Remo. Captain Wellby (CO Jamaica) is met by the Mayor of San Remo; views of the gardens show ratings and Royal Marines. Flag Officer, Second-in-Command Mediterranean Vice-Admiral Reid and his wife arrive and are greeted by officials; seen inspecting floral exhibits, meeting mannequins, passing through gardens with his staff. Mrs Reid is presented with carnations (new breed; when asked to name it she replied "Jamaica"). Vice-Admiral poses with mannequins. RM band entertains locals (CUs of flowers, bandsmen including Bandmaster J G H Diamond RM, and locals including children and old ladies).
