- Description: I. 'FOOD TO HOLLAND.' Crates of United States (US) Menu- No.1 C rations destined for famine relief operations in Holland are loaded into the bomb bay of a United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress bomber aircraft. Aerial footage shows USAAF B-17 aircraft operating over Holland performing a low-level parachute supply drop over areas of sound ground, unaffected by the extensive areas of flooding. A B-17 drops supplies with its undercarriage lowered to reduce its forward air speed over the dropping zone. A supply drop is made over Schipol Airfield. II. 'GERMANY 1945- UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.' United States (US) infantry walk past damaged trams in a Munich street. A US military policeman stands guard outside the Bürger Bräu Keller in Munich. US infantry carrying M1 Garand .30-inch self-loading rifles and M1 .30-inch carbines walk into the Feldherrnhalle (Ehrenmal) to view the graves of the sixteen Nazi "martyrs" who died in the Putsch of November 9 1923. Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder views ruins in Berlin, including the National Kaiser Wilhelm Monument, the City Palace, the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. Tedder later arrives at the Army School to take part in the surrender ceremony (second). Internal footage shows the Allied and German delegates at the signing table these include: Tedder, Marshal Georgi K Zhukov, General Carl Spaatz, General Jean de Lattre de Tassigny, Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel, Generaloberst PF Stumpf and Admiral Hans G von Friedeburg. Back in London, thousands of civilians throng the area around the Queen Victoria Memorial and the gates of Buckingham Palace. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, and Princesses Margaret and Elizabeth appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to the delight of the gathered crowds. Crowd scenes at Trafalgar Square follow. The Royal family are joined by Prime Minister Winston Spencer Churchill on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Civilian crowds celebrate victory and peace by dancing the Conga at night near Nelson's Column. St Paul's Cathedral is illuminated by searchlights.
