Description: 18 Aug 1944. American and British escort carriers and destroyers enter the Grand Harbour, Valletta prior to the invasion of the south of France. Various shots of English, French and American ships. Activity on the flight deck of HMS Emperor, one of the British escort carriers.
21 Aug 1944. His Grace Archbishop Bernard Griffin arrives at Luqa Airfield from Rome and is met by various service chiefs. He later visits the 1st Coast Regiment, Royal Malta Artillery and meets officers of the regiment and looks around the fort. He is accompanied by Archbishop Gonzi on a tour of Valletta. He tours Malta's dockyard. He visits Senglea and then St John's Cathedral, Valletta to take a services mass.
