- Description: I. MLS as a Whirlwind helicopter hovers over a slight sea - a man is lifted from the surface. LS of a burning smoke float - the helicopter approaches, hovers, and hauls up survivor. II. Sequence filmed from HMS Hermes. Whirlwind 288 trawls with its transducer and then lifts the sonar from the water - flight deck with parked Sea Vixen visible in the foreground. LA.MS as Whirlwind 287 alights on the flight deck - HMS Tenby, Rhyl and Puma hold station astern of the carrier (cf ADM 896 and 895). III. LS-MS as a Blackburn Buccaneer flies past at high speed, and then more slowly, with its air brakes fully deployed, arrester hook and undercarriage down - HMS Puma and a Type 12 frigate in the background. IV. HA.MS from Hermes' island as a Gannet AEW.3 runs up and takes off. Scimitar of 804 Squadron is catapulted away. Views from the island and mirror landing position as Scimitars come in to land on - a rescue helicopter stands by. HA.MS as deck crew free arrester wire for retraction as Scimitar XD 272 releases it, to taxi forward, wings folding. LS as a formation of three Scimitars flies past, followed by a single aircraft, which flies inverted and executes a roll. Extreme long shots of Scimitars dropping 1,000 lb bombs - the camera pans down to explosions in the sea. HA.MS as Sea Vixens 244 (XJ 556) and 246 (XJ 559) of 890 Squadron are catapulted away. 244 returns to the carrier. MS aft to Vixen 243 (XJ 528) as she taxies forward, wings folding - HMS Puma in the background. Final LS-MS as a Vixen makes a low pass - wing tip vortex is visible.
