Summary: HMS Royal Sovereign and four submarines are transferred to the Soviet Navy. Onboard the battleship Admiral Kennedy-Purvis makes a speech on behalf of the First Lord of the Admiralty, and the Russian ambassador, M Gusev, replies.
Description: HA from Y turret to the quarterdeck as Admiral Kennedy-Purvis delivers a speech on behalf of the absent First Lord of the Admiralty - he is sure the ships will be used with full effect against the common enemy and wishes the new crews may have good fortune, "plenty of hard fighting, and acquire great merit and much honour". The Admiral's words are translated into Russian by Lieutenant Berry, but they do not seem to impress Vice-Admiral Levchenko who grimaces wearily in the background. M Gusev, the Russian ambassador, replies that the ships will be well used and thanks the First Lord for his sentiments. The British and Russian national anthems are played as the White Ensign is hauled down and the Russian ensign raised.
