Summary: French newsreel of the later stages of the Second Battle of the Marne, Western Front, August 1918.
Description: I. Bligny village and Mont Bligny near Rheims shows shell damage. General Berthelot reviews troops of British XXII Corps under Lieutenant-General Sir Alexander Godley. These include what appear to be Anzac Mounted troops (Australians of 4th Light Horse Regiment ?) as Godley's escort. Two linked Renault lorries pull a 145mm naval gun through the streets of Romigny, followed by similar guns and mule transport. French and American troops inspect the concrete bed for a German superheavy gun, no longer in place. Pan over Ville-en-Tardenois and the Ardre River in V Corps area, as lorry-drawn 75mm field guns pass over a bridge. II. At Lassigny (?), in preparation for the next offensive, limbered 155mm Schneider guns and Infantry move up (filmed through the windows of a house). Inside the village captured German 77mm and 155mm guns are displayed. The bombardment of the German positions in front of Lassigny begins: note setting up of Hotchkiss in anti-aircraft role.
