So you can now see something of the old peace-time life of England and Wales shows the National Savings area divisions, twelve in all, whose major industrial or agricultural concerns are then shown. (1) Lancashire cotton industry, soap making, Merseyside ferry, Liverpool docks, Chester, Cheshire cheese. (2) Tyneside, modern trading and housing estate, border sheep and scenery. (3) Yorkshire industry, steel foundry, people leaving work, National Savings holiday poster. (4) East Anglian fishing boats, unloading and gutting fish, harvesting and tinning peas. (5) East Midlands shoe manufacturing, potato and sugar beet harvesting, brick manufacturing. (6) West Midlands pottery and glass manufacture, machine-tools, cars, orchards and classroom scene where children learn to save. (7) South East hop and fruit picking, poultry farms, wrought iron crooks. (8) Southern England ploughing, hand sowing, agricultural show, pigs and bacon curing, Queen Mary arriving at Southampton. (11) North Wales sheep, slate quarrying, Eisteddfod. (12) South Wales coal mining, docks, coracles fishing. Film ends with appeal "Lend to defend the right to be free" and lists National Savings banks and bonds.
