Description: I. Torpedo Mechanical Laboratory. Torpedo is lowered onto trestles. CU as motor performance is monitored. MS of civilian workers.
II. LS-MS off port bow as Camper and Nicholson motor gun boat/motor torpedo boat approaches at speed to launch salvoes of two and then four torpedoes - track of one runner is visible in foreground as camera pans to follow vessel.
III. Weapon Class destroyer. MCU of plotting room and crew. Various shots as crew load tube and traverse mounting. CU of rating (in anti-flash gear) at master firing switches - after quintuple TT (torpedo tubes) (P, Q, X, Y, Z) is at ready. LS over TT (torpedo tubes) to evening sky, with torpedo loading crane in silhouette. MCU as 'Q' tube is loaded. HA.MS as torpedo is hoisted inboard from lighter alongside and loaded into tube. Day for night MCU as Trainer works mounting round. CU of adjustment to torpedo setting. CPO fits cordite impulse charge. Master firing switch is operated (one fired).
IV. As I.. Torpedo Mechanical Laboratory - overhead crane transfers torpedo from wheeled trolley to trestles.
V. Sequences showing a Blackburn Firebrand aircraft practising torpedo drops near Spithead. Camera picks up aircraft as it approaches at various heights and pans to follow torpedo after release - one torpedo, dropped close to the camera, twists in mid-air, and fragments of the broken airtail are visible in the splash following impact. Other shots unsteady aerial MS of Firebrand during attack run, and frontal MCU of parked aircraft being armed at a Naval air station.
