Summary: Short filmlet showing how one of the engines is replaced in the destroyer HMS Sheffield.
Description: After one of HMS Sheffield's Rolls-Royce Tyne gas turbine engines malfunctions, a new engine is ordered and duly arrives by lorry. The Fleet Maintenance Group sets to work replacing the engine. Sequences shows the procedure for the removal of the old engine (a plate is removed from the deck, the damaged engine is eased out and lifted up through the intake space via a crane). On the quayside, the old engine is put into a cradle to be taken away for repair. The new engine is then lowered down through the intake space. The whole procedure takes 30 hours, and involves much study and careful planning.
