Summary: Unedited scenes of anti-submarine measures, and of naval helicopters.
Description: I. Royal Navy DUKW, flying an air-direction sock and with crew and passengers in lifejackets, approaches a slipway, enters the water, and makes out to sea.
II. First rate (limited conversion) anti-submarine frigate (possibly T Class), fires Squid anti-submarine mortars. HA.MSs onto port and starboard ATWs as they open fire, panning to show the bombs in flight, and the splash and explosion of the pattern - the ship's aft 40mm AA is mothballed. MCUs of mortars firing. MS aft to Squids as they fire off - crew emerge from deck house to reload. MLS forward from the bridge to show flight and splash of the pattern, and subsequent explosions - the clouds of spray thrown up by the depth charges create a rainbow effect - the ship passes through the disturbed water.
III. Series of shots of Mk 10 anti-submarine mortar onboard Type 15 frigate. Starboard mortar trained from load to fire, left nodding on gymbal mounting, trained forward and inboard, etc.
IV. Series of helicopter shots showing HMS Grafton (F.51), underway at slow speed, firing a depth charge pattern over her starboard bow - depth charges on deep setting. Shot from frigate as pattern splashes down and depth charges explode - camera holds on the area of the explosion, and an anti-submarine Whirlwind approaches to lower a transducer into the disturbed water.
V. The Type 15 frigate HMS Grenville manoeuvres at speed in a slight sea.
