Summary: Recruiting appeal for the Civil Defence Corps.
Description:Millions of people do a useful day's work, but few make the most of their spare time. Two London commuters are picked out from the crowd and transformed into Civil Defence workers: the man into a warden trained for "initiative and leadership", while the woman becomes a first-aid worker. A series of coordinated horizontal wipes (used to exaggerate the contents of a CD vehicle pool) illustrate the various aspects of Civil Defence activity - driving, vehicle maintenance, operating W/T and telephone equipment, ambulance services, etc. Prior training is essential; "...if a war were to come, wanting to help wouldn't be enough." Training requires only 1-2 hours a week and you meet new friends - the two commuters are shown together, entering a CD Social Club. "Join the Civil Defence, and use the best in yourself as you serve others."
