Summary:
Description: Troops from the 2nd Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry board Sherman tanks belonging to the Staffordshire Yeomanry at their assembly point between Herouvillette and Escoville. The Yeomanry's Shermans and Fireflies drive through the village of Escoville at a cautious five miles an hour. Their path through woods south of the village is cleared for them by a 3rd Division engineer's armoured bulldozer. As they advance towards their first objective, men from the 2nd KSLI's leading company set off on foot, accompanied by Sherman Crab minesweeping tanks from the 1st Lothian and Border Horse and ordinary Sherman gun-tanks belonging to the Staffordshire Yeomanry. Troops serving with the 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment come under sniper fire and take cover by trees along the roadside. In Escoville, additional infantry and armour reinforcements for 185th Brigade's push on the Caen-Troarn railway rumble through the village.
