Summary: Buccaneer prototypes XK 523 and XK 489 conduct deck-landing and take-off trials from HMS Victorious in the English Channel.
Description: A NA.39 (XK 523) lands on for the first time, flown by the test pilot Derek Whitehead. The weather is wet and windy. Whitehead watches as the second aircraft (XK 489) flies in from Boscombe Down, flown by Commander Price. LA shot of XK 523 as it closes air brakes after landing and taxies forward. Captain Janvrin talks with a Lieutenant-Commander Evans and (presumably) Commander Price. MS as XK 523 comes up on forward elevator, wings and nose folded. HA onto the aircraft as the pilot closes the cockpit and straightens the aircraft's wings. Performance is still secret, but "we can at least appreciate the Navy's satisfaction as the trials continue". One of the aircraft moves onto a catapult. MS to the aircraft stropped up - it is launched. View from the cockpit of an aircraft landing on. Aerial view from a helicopter flying at deck level as it circles from port to starboard across the carrier's bows - the two Buccaneers are parked on deck.
