Description: I. MS of a group of sailors seated with wives and sweethearts - there is much merriment and kissing, and one sailor lifts his (?) small baby in his arms.
II. HA over Sydney harbour from The Heads - a destroyer moves right to left toward the open sea, followed by a Colossus Class carrier - possibly HMS Venerable. A second Colossus follows. HMS Ursa (D.29) passes. LS of HMS Indomitable and HMS Venerable (?) at sea.
III. Continuation of I. Camera on a vehicle moving past crowds in Sydney - some people gesture and wave, one man lifts his hat. Among the waving crowds one man holds a newspaper headlined WAR OVER: OFFICIAL. Another man holds a copy of 'The Sun', simply headlined PEACE! Ticker tape has been released from some buildings. Various shots of the crowds, with many people waving flags - the Union Jack is much more common than the Australian flag. At the end of the sequence the crowds part to let through a council water truck - a camera car is also present with a cine camera on the roof platform - in the background a hoarding reads 2UW REJOICES! (2UW probably denotes a commercial radio station)
