- Summary: HMS Nubian represents the United Kingdom at the 1967 graduation ceremony of the Imperial Ethiopian Naval Academy, and participates at the Sea Day when ships from the United States, Soviet Union, France, Sudan and England sailed past the Emperor Haile Selassie on the training ship Ethiopia.
- Description: Opening sequence onboard Nubian - two saluting guns have been set up and a 21-gun salute is fired in honour of the Emperor. The band of the 1st Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, perform on the quarterdeck, and the crew man ship. As she enters Massawa, Nubian passes the Russian destroyer Gnevny (307) and secures alongside the training ship Ethiopia. Aerial sequence showing the ships alongside in Massawa - Nubian (F.131) and Ethiopia, then the French frigate Amiral Charner with the US destroyer Vesole (878), followed by Gnevny. Secured immediately astern of the leading pair are three Sudanese patrol boats. At the head of the line is the French minesweeper La Dieppoise (M.730), come up from her normal station in Djibouti. Cut to scene on the evening of 23 January - a Cadillac draws up on the quayside and Haile Selassie emerges to be greeted by Admiral Sir Michael Le Fanu, C-in-C Middle East Command. From the quarterdeck of the Ethiopia the Emperor takes the salute as guards and bands from the various ships march past - intercut is a fencing match, presumably between ships' crewmen. Earlier the same day - Haile Selassie presents swords to newly promoted Sub-Lieutenants of the Ethiopian Navy, and there is the yearly passing out parade of the Imperial Ethiopian Naval Academy. Cut to events of the 24th January, Ethiopian Sea Day, when the visiting ships sail past the Emperor on the Ethiopia - sequence taken onboard the training ship as Amiral Charner sails past, dressed with mast-head ensigns and manned, to fire a 21-gun salute. Gnevny, HMS Nubian and USS Vesole follow - Nubian gilds the lily by cheering ship as she passes. LS from the quarterdeck of Ethiopia, crowded with VIPs, as the ship returns to port, escorted by the visiting ships. The Emperor is seen briefly on deck. Back in Massawa, Nubian closes to resume her berth outboard of the Ethiopia. Sequence onboard Nubian during Haile Selassie's visit to the ship - Admiral Le Fanu and a flight lieutenant help the Emperor into flying gear for a trip over the harbour in Nubian's Wasp. On the helicopter's return Haile Selassie is divested of the flying kit, dons his uniform cap, and is escorted below for tea with muffins and scones in the Ward Room - unfortunately this last treat is not captured on film.
