Summary: HMS Brazen takes on stores, mainly foodstuffs.
Description: I. HMS Brazen replenishes at sea. CUs of inhaul running through leading block to winch. CU of winchman. A palnet is hooked on to the traveller, the jackstay is tensioned, and the load goes from Brazen to Fort Grange. The reverse process - the pivoted arm on Fort Grange is raised, the traveller is released, and the palnet is hauled across - Brazen's winch can be heard heaving in the inhaul. The palnet is lowered onto the deck and removed on a pallet truck. Below deck men stand stripped to the waist, ready to receive the stores - wooden and cardboard boxes are manhandled down a companion ladder, accompanied by much colourful banter. Stores are stacked, then passed hand to hand along a human chain - 25 kg paper sacks of breadmaking flour are passed below, one damaged sack puffing flour over the cameraman. Boxes of rations follow - Shredded Wheat cereal and jars of salad cream are among the items.
II. Routine operations on the flightdeck - Lynx 331 runs up, the lashings are removed and the aircraft takes off, clearing to starboard. Break. Helicopter closes from port quarter to land on and be lashed down again - FDO in foreground in both sequences. CU of the pilot as he deplanes to some chaffing from the flightcrew - he is accompanied by a Lieutenant-Commander (who deplanes in a dignified silence). At the request of the pilot, one of the flightcrew begins a check of the helicopter's radar.
