Description: Opening sequence (after shots of Westminster) in Trafalgar Square - a band playing, loudspeakers in the fountains, War Savings posters on the plinth - the National Gallery, in the absence of its main collection, puts on lunchtime concerts, and exhibitions of new pictures (many now in IWM gallery). The sculptress Clare Sheridan is shown with her busts of Churchill and Lenin - Abram Games works on a 'Careless Talk' poster - a band of RAF officers ("Jimmy Miller and his Squadronaires") plays at a dance on an airfield - military band plays on the bandstand in Hyde Park - a group of factory girls are learning ballet - there is open air dancing on Plymouth Hoe - two soldiers compose a song ("Hold Your Hats On") and a whole audience is shown singing the chorus. This material is interspersed with film of services and home front activity - "Its part of what we're fighting for; it's part of what we're fighting with".
