- Summary: British submarines return from successful patrols off the coast of Norway.
- Description: I. "H.M. Submarine Spearfish Home". HMS Spearfish alongside a U Class (?) submarine in harbour. CU of spearfish symbol on hull. Group MS of the crew and CUs of the Captain, Lieutenant-Commander Forbes, and his First Officer, Lieutenant Pirie. Officers and men go ashore. II. "Naval Heroes Home". Survivors of the Afridi and the Bittern board coaches after landing back in Britain. III. "Submarines Home Again". HA from depot ship over HMS Rorqual and HMS Snapper to HMS Sunfish as she comes alongside. Prisoners are escorted from the ship and marched off under guard. Officers and men pose for the camera. IV. "General de Gaulle visits Free French Navy". De Gaulle and Admiral Muselier inspect the destroyer Triomphant and the submarines Surcouf, Junon and Minerve. V. "The King with the Services". King George VI inspects a dockyard naval detachment and watches the Welsh Guards at mortar practice. VI. "The Navy on Land". Sequence showing two Bedford OYDs adapted for anti-aircraft work - each carries two Lewis guns and approximately 14 men armed with rifles. The two lorries, flying large White Ensigns, drive off along the quayside, passing an armed trawler and a cable layer. LA.CU of one of the vehicles closed up for action with armoured flaps raised either side and machine guns and rifles pointing skywards. The machine gunners traverse professionally. VII. "Life Raft Demonstration". MS as Chipchase patent self-releasing reversible raft is launched from a merchant ship alongside in harbour. HA.MS as three men on the raft erect the side-skirting of boards, set up a small sail and work the steering oars. CU of the designer, Mr R S Chipchase.
