Chairman of Brixham Urban District Council and his councillors come onboard HMS Vanguard to pay official visit to C-in-C, Home Fleet. Ship being painted. Conference of COs of Home Fleet Ships re "Pre-Loyalty" exercise. Ship being cleaned. Boat from Brixham views HMS Vanguard; Vanguard approaches and cheers HMS Reward (deputising for HMS Britannia during Exercise Pre-Loyalty). Home Fleet proceeds to rendezvous; Britannia approaches. Marine bugler sounds "Commence"; guns fire salute. Britannia crosses Vanguard's bows; C-in-C Home Fleet on bridge. Mediterranean Fleet ships are dismissed and proceed past Vanguard and Britannia: Glasgow, Saintes and Barfleur. Britannia and escort off Plymouth. HMS Triumph (flying the flag of C-in-C Plymouth) salutes Britannia. Coastal Command flypast: three Short Sunderland flying boats and three Avro Shackletons. Picket boats and yachts from RN College, Dartmouth. Pleasure craft off Brixham. Britannia alters course; steam past of FOTS. Implacable leading Indefatigable. Steam past of FOSM. Submarines approach Britannia and pass Vanguard; destroyer escort turns in and passes Britannia in line ahead. HMS Apollo moves into line past Vanguard; latter joins line, crew cheering. Bridge of Britannia. Destroyers turn; Vanguard and Apollo turn away. Bridge of Britannia; she drops in astern. (Part 3) Passage of HMS Britannia through the Solent: flypast of Fleet Air Arm. (Part 4) HM minesweepers and frigates await Britannia; on her arrival she enters the avenue of ships and continues down the line. Civilian aircraft fly overhead. Petty officers of HMS Alcaston. Britannia in distance. (Part 5) HMS Britannia passes RN College Greenwich.
