Film Number:ADM 4838
Other titles:FALKLANDS CONFLICT [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Footage on board HMS Hermes in the South Atlantic in a storm; aerial shots of the task force battle fleet after the conflict.
Description: Opening shot shows a distant warship in relatively calm weather. There follow several shots around the deck of board HMS Hermes in a storm, flying a very tattered battle ensign, and a distant shot of HMS Broadsword (?), apparently taken on 15/6/1982 (see note), the day the Argentinian forces in the Falklands surrendered. A number of aerial shots (apparently taken on 18/6/1982) show the fleet, bathed in morning or evening sunlight, sailing in line astern through calm seas and patches of mist. HMS Hermes, paintwork looking very scruffy, is seen through a rainbow.
