- Description: I. MS off the port beam of accommodation ship HMS Haslemere - blockships in the background. LS pan along gooseberry, showing the extent of the line. II. MCU of the link between two Whale roadway spans - camera tracks and then pans along floating roadway to coast. MSs of the roadway from small craft. MS of shore ramp float and section of the 'West Wall' demolished for a beach exit (cf ADM 1986). III. MS off the port bow of a cargo vessel anchored offshore. MCU pan from bridge to port bow, over upper works of Haslemere. MS aft from HMS Aristocrat secured alongside the blockships, camera panning to show the extent of the enclosed anchorage - in the foreground, Haslemere makes stern way. MS of HMS Despatch riding at anchor. IV. HA.MCU of the gap between bow of blockship Saltersgate and neighbouring A2 caisson 65, and pan along the line of caissons to a seventh Phoenix being manoeuvred into position. MS off the starboard bow of cargo vessel, and pan left to the blockship line where HMS Aristocrat (4.200) and a Freshbrook Class water carrier are secured alongside - shot taken from Alynbank (?). Shots of a caisson under tow (survey ship HMS Scott passes in the background), and domestic chores on already established breakwaters. A1 caisson 18, badly cracked by collision with a tug, lies at an angle to the main line. MS of HMS Aristocrat underway. V. MS of caisson and attendant tugs. MCU of A1-18. MS along lower gangway, showing the water level inside caisson. Camera on deck level pans transversely between sluice valves in opposite compartments of caisson, tilting in the middle of the take to shoot along the central catwalk to AA position. VI. MLS fine on the port quarter of HMS Roberts at bombardment position with a Leander Class cruiser - HDML(SY) and a small ML in the foreground. MFV 1034 passes.
