Summary: 1/1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment resting in the rear areas of the Western Front, autumn 1917.
Description: A pan over the men resting by their tented camp. A bath parade for the men. Tins of stew and chunks of meat are distributed at the camp; and later this is given out cooked at the field kitchens to the men, who sit eating from their dixies. The men practise physical exercises. The tailors and bootmakers of the battalion work in the open repairing uniforms and boots. A posed group of several NCOs "who have won decorations". A final shot of the battalion Quartermaster with the Medical Officer, a US doctor.
