Summary:
Description: LCT(5) 2438 beaches, mooring lines are run out to secure her by the head, and troops disembark carrying bundles of chespaling. A length of full-width track is unrolled directly from the LCT into the shallows. A second roll follows. Once manhandled into position, the chespaling is fixed down with pickets. Further up the beach, the track is assembled from the smaller rolls of chespaling carried by individual soldiers. When the carpet has been fully made up, a Bedford OY and two Austin K3s are disembarked and driven up onto the dunes, closely watched by a border collie which sits next to the track near the water's edge. The trucks then return and re-embark, albeit with some difficulty, followed by the troops. LCP(R) 777 observes the operation from offshore.
