Summary: Shows the work of YMCA mobile canteens by following a "new girl" through her first night's duty during the Blitz (the film is scripted, but quite realistically so).
Description: Opening sequence sets scene - blackout, Londoners entering shelters, etc. At the YMCA base, a middle aged woman driver is introduced to her (young) new assistant; after showing her round the van, they set off and visit an AA post and the scene of a fire, and then serve civilians emerging from a shelter following the 'all clear'; the visits are used to show impressions of the service provided, the two women's conversation on the drives in between for some gentle recruiting (eg both stress their previous inexperience). They return to base tired, but nobly set out again immediately in answer to an emergency call.
