Other titles:FALKLANDS CONFLICT [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Scenes off Ascension Island; departure from Portsmouth on RFA Stromness; Sea Kings operate from Canberra off Ascension Island.
Description: Probably filmed from RFA Stromness at anchor off Ascension, troops come alongside in a landing craft (various shots). Troops line the ship (again, probably Stromness) in readiness for leaving Portsmouth. Various shots show the Portsmouth Harbour as the ship sails out. On board Canberra anchored at Ascension (between 21/4/1982 and 23/4/1982), Sea King helicopters land and take off from the recently installed landing pad. A rating signals to a nearby ship (HMS Intrepid?). Troops board a Sea King on a ship's foredeck's helicopter landing pad (possibly on Canberra).
