Description: (Tape 1) Various vessels passing Liberty Island; these include the Staten Island Ferry Miss New York, the destroyer HMS Glasgow (D88), the frigate HMS Cumberland (F85), US warships 51, E-30, 47 and the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious (R06). Shoreside ceremony. Flypast of aircraft both historic and modern. Royal Navy ships berthed by USS Intrepid (now an air and space museum). Dockside: Royal Navy and US Navy personnel march towards "Intrepid".
(Tape 2) Scenes at dockside include welcome for RN ships (NYPD band plays) and arrival of VIPs in stretch limousines. Interview with Leading Seaman Paul Read from Bournemouth and Chief Petty Officer John Newlyn from Emsworth, both joint winners of HMS Illustrious' "Sailor of the Year" award. Interviews with other members of Illustrious' crew, including Petty Officer Ian Faulkner from Tichfield, Sara Stammers (RAF, from Fareham) and LAEN Simon Gullick from Brighton. Shopping in downtown Manhattan. Interviews with crew members from HMS Glasgow: Lieutenant Richard John Fletcher (Tichfield) and WTR Antony Woollett (Stubbington). Scenes of Royal Navy ships open to visitors, silent at first and then shot with soundtrack. Ships alongside. Coastguard helicopter display with diver. "Fleet Week" signs, also signs for USS Intrepid.
