- Description: (Part 1) Admiral Sir M M Denny (C-in-C Home Fleet) arrives on board HMS Eagle to observe flying operations and visit various parts of ship. Gannets of 826 Squadron and Sea Hawks of 802 and 804 Squadron, ranged aft on the flight deck, start up watched by C-in-C; taxiing and launch by catapult. (Part 2) Gannet of 826 Squadron launched; more Gannets flying in formation. Air-sea rescue helicopter takes off. Wyverns start up and are launched; one is shown being struck down from flight deck to hangar via after lift. Skyraiders of 849 Squadron in background: one is seen taking off free. (Part 3) Sea Hawks and Gannets land on and are parked. Admiral Denny and Rear-Admiral A R Pedder (FO Aircraft Carriers) approach Gannet; C-in-C climbs into cockpit and the aircraft takes off (bound for RNAS Lossiemouth). (Part 4) Helicopters from HMS Albion and HMS Eagle land on Eagle's flight deck with survivors of Whirlwind force-landed in the sea. (All were rescued.) (Part 5) HMS Agincourt takes up position to refuel from HMS Eagle. Fuel line is connected; Captain and signalman of Agincourt make semaphore messages to HMS Eagle. (Part 6) HMS Agincourt leaves Eagle after refuelling. Two of the helicopter survivors (from Part 4) leave after a check-up. Sea Hawks are started up and launched from port catapult. Wyverns of 813 and 827 Squadrons taxi forward and are launched. (Part 7) Wyverns catapult off, and Sea Hawks land on. Planeguard helicopter touches down at completion of landings. Two divisions of Sea Hawks start up (smoke from starter cartridges visible). Take-off. (Part 8) Comstrikefleet, Atlantic Fleet, arrives on board HMS Eagle from USS Northampton to observe flying operations during Sea Enterprise. Northampton can be seen in distance with two helicopters of 845 Whirlwind Squadron also visible. American Admiral and Eagle's Executive Officer on the mirror landing sight platform of Eagle. Admiral departs later by helicopter. (Part 9) Ratings lash Wyverns on HMS Eagle in rough weather. (Part 10) Shots taken from mirror sight platform of HMS Eagle's bows plunging into rough seas during Sea Enterprise, and shots of HMS Glasgow with seas breaking over the bridge in the same weather. (Part 11) HMS Glasgow in heavy seas. (Part 12) RFA tanker Olna supplies furnace fuel by buoyant hose to HMS Eagle, which manoeuvres close astern of Olna as the hose is floated down and secured to Eagle's connections (rough weather). (Part 13) Helicopter ranged from the hangar for planeguard duties; ratings fix rotors from their stowed position and move the helicopter to the take-off position. Skyraiders with long range early warning radar move to catapult. Planeguard helicopter takes off followed by two Skyraiders. HMS Albion with planeguard helicopters in foreground. (Part 14) HMS Centaur takes up position beside Admiralty tanker Wave Sovereign ready for oiling. Wyverns start up on deck (Centaur and Wave Sovereign in background); planes taxi and are launched. Skyraider is brought up on aft lift from stowage. (Part 15) USN headquarters ship Northampton crosses astern of Eagle. Latter approaches Wave Sovereign to take on fuel, with HMS Charity disengaging from Wave Sovereign after fuelling. HMS Eagle refuelling from Wave Sovereign with hoses slung between the two ships (rough weather; rain squalls). (Part 16) Further shots of HMS Eagle refuelling from Wave Sovereign. (Part 17) Eagle refuelling; HMS Barrosa comes alongside Wave Sovereign's starboard side and takes on fuel simultaneously. Shots of Barrosa only being refuelled (Eagle having finished and cast off). (Part 18) Shots from the mirror landing sight platform in HMS Eagle of 4 Gannets and a Skyraider taking off (free). (Part 19) Admiral Denny takes the salute from ship's company of HMS Glasgow on the quarterdeck. (Part 20) HMS Eagle taken from Glasgow. Bow view of Centaur in the wake of Glasgow. HMS Chieftain approaches Glasgow prior to oiling; she passes oil lines across. Glasgow's crane passes pipeline to Chieftain. Ratings tend line in the well-deck of Glasgow. Barrosa approaches in heavy seas and steams alongside Glasgow.
