Description: Fort St Elmo fires salute as USS Salem (US Sixth Fleet) passes breakwater. HMS Sheffield fires salute in Grand Harbour. CU of Salem's bridge; she enters, approaches Sheffield, turns to berthing position and lowers boats. C-in-C Med's barge comes alongside Sheffield. Salem secures to buoys. Vice-Admiral Ofstie climbs ladder to Sheffield's quarterdeck and is welcomed by C-in-C Med and Captain; he inspects guard before introduction to Flag Officers (SIC Med, Aircraft Carriers, FOM). Vice-Admiral leaves Sheffield, 17-gun salute fired.
