Title:COMEDIAN BOB CAROLGEES VISITS HMS GLOUCESTER [Allocated Title]
Film Number:ADM 6405
Other titles:THE ROYAL NAVY IN THE GULF, 1990-1991 [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: More material showing the comedian Bob Carolgees visiting HMS Gloucester - see also 8117.
Description: Below deck, Bob Carolgees entertains some of the crew of HMS Gloucester. He seems ill-prepared, explaining that he is a 'prop comedian' but has not been allowed to bring any props, and he is reduced to asking for questions from the audience, and telling a few lame jokes. Because he is struggling, Bob seems particularly discomforted by the presence of the video camera. Fortunately the audience is very willing to be pleased. Cut to the forecastle, where Bob is fitted with a steel helmet and poses with crew members while holding a sheaf of the message forms or "blueys" which he has come to collect. The forms are packed into a paper sack and carried ashore by Bob - in a final photo-opportunity he mimes spitting into the bag of letters.
