Title:PONTOON FLOATING DRYDOCK : string and deck assembly [Main Title]
Film Number:ADM 234
Other titles:PONTOON ASSEMBLY AND UTILISATION [Series Title]
Summary: A survey of initial string and deck assembly for a standard 4 x 15 Pontoon Floating Drydock.
Description: Introduction to the Pontoon Floating Drydock, which provides repair facilities at advanced bases for PT boats and other small craft. Various sizes of PFD can be assembled from prefabricated units, but the model for this film is the standard 4 x 15 dock with a capacity of 100 long tons. Graphics demonstrate the general assembly procedure, followed by a step by step film guide to the assembly of the deck from sixty T6 pontoons, laid in four strings of fifteen. The whole assembly takes place on a tranquil estuarine shoreline. Rather incongruously, the construction team all wear steel helmets. The level of instruction is suited to the meanest intelligence, eg "hold the link with the side marked TOP upward."
