Description: I. Parade in Tananarive, October 1942. Senior army officers in town square. General Platt decorates coloured NCOs. Platt takes the salute - parade of motorised equipment. MS of Hotel de Ville. Detachment of RN passes saluting base. Long sequence showing armed march past. CU of Sergeant Odilo. CU of Corporal Rabson. MS of crowds after the parade.
II. CU of moored Fairmile B's stern; 3/4MS of MLs. Ratings paraded on deck. Civilian official gives a speech beneath a decorated awning. MS of men crowding the side of a ferry vessel. CUs of naval ratings - some give thumbs-up and V-sign (both types). Two men share a melon slice. Sea horse play before camera. MS of Nelson Class battleship. Shot from bows showing forward turrets and bridge tower. Main armament traversed to starboard. Secondary armament fires. MS silhouette of King George V Class battleship.
III. Captured U-boat crew. Blindfolded men come ashore under guard. Group of prisoners relax on deck - Mediterranean.
IV. Inspection of WRNS. MCU of Director, Vera Laughton-Mathews. She inspects parade of WRNS. Director matches Wren packing a parachute. The Wrens don flying gear. Wrens stand to attention.
Notes: Summary: Ceremonial parade in Tananarive, 3 October 1942. The NCOs decorated with the Military Medal were members of the 1/1 Battalion, King's Royal African Rifles. Quads probably belonged to 29th Battery, 9th Field Regiment, and armoured cars to A Squadron 1st South African Armoured Car Commando. Troops of Royal Welch and Royal Scots Fusiliers participated in the march past.
