Title:TRIALS WITH AMPHIBIOUS UNIVERSAL CARRIER EQUIPPED WITH KAPOK FLOTATION GEAR [Allocated Title]
Film Number:ADM 995
Other titles:INVASION EQUIPMENT TRIALS [Allocated Series Title]
Summary:
Description: I. MLS from beach to LCM(3) in deep water - carrier is disembarked, and swims ashore to run up the beach and stop before the camera - LCPVs and LCT(5) in the background. MCU of parked vehicle with spectators examining the kapok flotation gear.
II. River crossing. Kapok carrier is driven across an open field to a river, entering smoothly, and then turning to run downstream beneath a stone bridge. When attempting to regain the land, the vehicle loses traction on the muddy sides of the river, and succeeds only on the fifth attempt - an oblique approach to a gently shelving bank. On a second trial, the carrier seems to be settling slightly (as the kapok becomes waterlogged ?), and a small hand pump is shipped by one of the crew. Emergence from the river is unsuccessful - after seven attempts the carrier has not regained the bank when the film ends.
