Summary: Unedited scenes onboard the aircraft carrier HMS Ocean.
Description: I. Staged incidents on flight deck of HMS Ocean: HA.MS as 'dead' man is removed by stretcher party (after fouling airscrew of Firefly 1 at right of frame?); LS and HA.MS as dense smoke billows from lift well. Accidents involving operational aircraft. Firefly 5 and Seafire 47 No 133 are shown (separately) after direct collisions with island, and Firefly NF.1 is nose down after fouling superstructure with starboard wing - tip: pilots disembark, crash crews bring up hoses and extinguisher, and Seafire is hauled off, a member of the deck handling party picking up a broken propeller blade.
II. MSs from bridge along starboard side to wake and sponsors bearing 40mm Bofors.
III. MCUs, and MSs of radar aerials and tripod mast flying 'Aeroplane' flag and signal hoist.
IV. MS off port bow of attendant destroyer, steaming at high speed in moderate sea. MLSs of destroyer holding station on port quarter. MSs bow on, and off starboard bow of HMS Chivalrous, in calm sea.
V. Flight deck activity. Seafire 47s and Firefly 5s take off. Firefly NF.1: engine maintenance; deck crew manoeuvre aircraft onto raised lift; aircraft taxies into position to run up engine and take off; under wing and undercarriage details. MS of ship's funnel making black smoke which drifts across flight deck. Firefly Mk 5: chockmen in readiness for engine start; aircraft, with engine running, is pushed aft (after a landing?); aircraft takes off and safety barriers lift.
