Title:TRANSFER OF 45 COMMANDO FROM HMS VICTORIOUS TO HMS ALBION AT MOMBASA [Allocated Title]
Film Number:ADM 3410
Summary: Men of 45 Commando tranship at Mombasa for the voyage home after suppressing army mutinies in East Africa.
Description: Aerial LSs of Mombasa - Albion lies in the harbour. Cut to HA forward over the flightdeck of HMS Victorious - Fairey Gannets are parked up, and Reliant and Albion are visible in the background. HA aft to the two Belvedere helicopters of 26 Squadron RAF - stores have been assembled on deck. LS to a line of moored frigates - the nearest two are the aircraft direction frigate HMS Salisbury and the GP Tribal HMS Eskimo - then pan right to the flightdeck of Victorious where two Wessex helicopters of 814 Squadron are parked forward. HA onto a nearby Arab dhow. Ship's crane offloads heavy equipment into a lighter alongside. Albion's LCAs ply back and forth carrying troops to the commando carrier. LA from ship's launch to the flightdeck of Victorious where one of the Belvedere helicopters is running up. The launch heads for Albion, encountering the LCA L 1 and passing the Air Stores Support Ship Reliant, and runs alongside the carrier, securing outboard of a lighter laden with Ferret scout cars and Land Rovers. Royal Marines, presumably ferried across in the launch, go up Albion's accommodation ladder - all are heavily laden and one man carries the additional burden of a radio backpack. A Belvedere airlifts a Land Rover onto Albion's deck, while the ship's crane takes up a cargo net from the lighter alongside. The launch returns to Victorious, encountering the landing craft L 3, crowded with marines - two more of Albion's LCAs, L 1 and L 4, are alongside Victorious taking on more troops. Cut to MS as Belvedere XG 463 (recognition letter B) alights on Victorious. MS as the second Belvedere (recognition letter G) lifts off a Land Rover. HA onto the lighter loading alongside, and LS as a tug tows the laden craft off across the anchorage. Albion gets underway, steaming past right to left - she has recovered her landing craft and a Wessex helicopter and a LPV occupy the flightdeck. Final shot onboard Victorious as Captain Compston and RM commander walk together along the flightdeck watching the loading - they are passed by a aircraft handling tractor towing a trailer laden with jerry cans - a Belvedere is parked aft.
