Film Number:ADM 4781
Other titles:POST-WAR NAVAL OPERATIONS - COD WAR [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Film shot from a Royal Navy frigate involved in screening British trawlers from Icelandic gunboats in the 'cod war' of 1975-1976.
Description: MLS as a Fokker Friendship passes low overhead of the cameraship, a Royal Navy frigate, which is pursuing the Icelandic gunboat Arvakur. The gunboat makes off. MS to the bows of the gunboat, spray flying back from them, as she steams close alongside the cameraship in a heavy sea. Both vessels reduce speed. HA from frigate's focsle to Arvakur, now drawn ahead to a position just off the starboard bow - the gunboat suddenly picks up speed and veers off, swinging her stern under the frigate's bows. MS off the port bow of Arvakur as she steams right to left to cross cameraship's bows. Various shots of the gunboat and frigate in close proximity - both are rolling heavily in rising sea. MS off the port bow of gunboat Baldur as she runs past. MS to quarterdeck of Baldur as she steams close alongside the cameraship - she seems to have suffered some superficial damage to bulwark plating. CU of Baldur's stern - like the Arvakur she is towing a length of chain.
