Summary: Admiral Sir John Eccles takes a trip in the midget submarine HMS Minnow.
Description: LA to HMS Maidstone alongside at Portland. C-in-C Home Fleet, Admiral Sir John Eccles, descends the starboard after gangway to go aboard the X-craft HMS Minnow. Despite the submarines small size, the formalities are observed - a single crewman pipes the side, the CO, Lieutenant Compton-Hall, salutes, and the Admiral's flag is hoisted. LS of Minnow hull down and running at periscope depth. Maidstone's launch approaches the surfaced submarine and Admiral Eccles quits the ship after his brief underwater trip.
