Summary:
Description: I. Scenes onboard a tug operating out of Arromanches. Crew secure the towing hawser round a bollard, and a splicing fid is used to attach a shackle. MS aft to a small coaster under tow - dredger in the background. Captain uses a loudspeaker to hail the coaster. After letting go the tow, crewmen haul in rope. HA.MS to the focsle as crewmen attach a bow fender - the tug is alongside a larger vessel. MSs of HMS Glaisdale underway with two beam tugs.
II. MCU of MFVs alongside a Spud (the craft outboard is fitted with an external degaussing cable), and pan along pierheads with tugs and a floating crane alongside. MS from Whale roadway as Bedford OY drives from the pierhead past the camera - Lowestoft Trader in the background. Men transfer mailbags (?) from ship's hold to a waiting lorry.
III. Various shots showing DUKWs of 337 GT Company and 377 GT Company RASC receiving a mixed cargo of fuel drums, ammunition, etc, from cargo vessel 317 (engines aft, quarterdeck type - Empire Ness ?).
