Summary: Trials carried out in Malta illustrating the use of a NL Pontoon to bridge a water gap between LST ramp and the shore when loading and unloading a Centurion tank.
Description: Pontoon approaches HMS Redoubt, which lies with vehicle doors open, a bow tug helping her to keep station. LST lowers ramp and a Centurion drives onto the pontoon. Pontoon crosses the harbour carrying three tanks. Cut to empty pontoon connected to the shore by a ramp - a Centurion reverses onto the pontoon - HMS Redoubt (L.4001) and boom defence vessels in the background. CU of the chains which are used to secure the tank to the pontoon. Two more tanks drive onto the pontoon, although the ramp is no longer a dry connexion to the shore but ends in the shallows. After successfully embarking, the tanks drive back onto the shore.
