Description: Montage of aerial shots and ceremonial activities (including 21-gun salute and Lebanese military being invited aboard , followed by a press conference for the Lebanese media. Port activities. Members of crew (in uniform) are bussed through West Beirut (still heavily damaged) and stroll around the busy streets of East Beirut: Chief Petty Officer Quickfall (?), 1st Leading Writer Terry Higgins and Leading Seaman Radar Steve Whicker give their impressions of the city (including the marked contrast between the wrecked West and the cosmopolitan East). Commander Nick Butler of HMS Cardiff is interviewed, both in Beirut and on the ship's bridge, discussing participation in Exercise Bright Star, hosted by Egypt. In the Officer's Mess, Commander Butler is treated to a fortieth birthday party. Final brief sequence shows scenes of Exercise Bright Star (camp, helicopters, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels).
